Stuck on Homestuck Cosplay?
Troll teeth with braces

I’ve had braces for a year or so now and there awful but if you use this tutorial: http://youtu.be/qQrm8N2ilzk because it is a good tutorial and also, it wont mess up your appliances. Just after you’re finished and everything is dried, add an extra layer of was so it sticks out over the braces (and also for extra comfort for your gums).

you will look a little buck toothed, but just take them out when you are not smiling with your new pearly whites! :D

Terezi things (Plus a bit for other troll makeup!)

This would, in my opinion, make a really nice Terezi wig. It isn’t all that expensive. Shipping to the US, Australia, and some parts of Asia is free, and the seller seems to have pretty good feedback. I’ll be buying this wig somewhere in the near future, so you can probably expect a review or something at some point.

As someone who has really bad teeth due to genetics, I can’t just pop on some Scarecrow fangs. Instead, I’m going to use Dental Distortion’s veneers. For those, you’ve got two options.
One, which are the Gremlin style teeth; and two, the Grell ones. The Grells are more expensive, but could also be used for cosplaying other trolls (I think they’d be great for a Karkat cosplayer who’s willing to fork out that amount of cash).

If you’re on a tighter budget you can always go and make those teeth out of fake nails or whatever, but these are a nice option anyway.

Also, if you’re a stickler for detail, you can check out colors of Aquacolor they have to use as a sort of blush - apply it to the cheeks and so forth to look more realistic. TK2 would probably be good for Terezi; 510 or 091 for Serkets; ect.

Also, I tried mixing black food coloring with a bit of water and swishing it around in my mouth to achieve a grey tongue, and it worked!
The taste is a bit icky, it might stain your teeth and it probably won’t last too long, but if you’re doing a photoshoot and wearing veneers/fake nail teeth over it then I’m sure it’ll be fine if you put them on after.
(You can play around with other colors if you feel the need, but the method DOES work)

Scarecrow fang links that work

i was looking through the teeth tag and realized that all the links leading to scarecrow fangs are all broken!

so fangs that are perfect for pretty much any troll are the small scarecrow fangs that can be found here

they also come in packs for ones with top and bottom teeth, gold for caliborn and some good ones for captors

theyre reusable and fit perfectly if fitted correctly.

Troll Teeth with Waterproof Eyeliner

I don’t believe this method of painting troll teeth has been submitted, but it’s very cheap, effective, and simple. I’ve gotten a lot of compliments and questions about them, so here it is!

I know there are many videos on teeth painting, but this is the one I referenced: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8B2nKYuOB8o which uses waterproof eyeliner instead of specific tooth enamel/paint.

I was skeptical at first, but because waterproof eyeliner is only about $5 at Walmart, I decided to give it a try.

Huge success! The video states that while you can drink while wearing the eyeliner, eating will take it off, however, with the brand I used, Maybelline Ultra Liner Waterproof, (while it doesn’t have the best reviews as an eyeliner, it’s worked wonderfully for this purpose) the teeth stayed on all day, even after eating snacks and a full meal!!

There is definitely a bit of a learning curve, but after a bit of practice, painting on teeth is quite simple, and it’s easy to manipulate the shape of the teeth (wider or more narrow) for your character. Thoroughly brush your teeth before hand, and dry them off with a wash cloth. During application, wad up the cloth and bite down to prevent getting drool errywhere and to help keep your mouth open (all that smiling is a big uncomfortable). Paint carefully, as it shows in the tutorial video. After every few teeth, I set my blow dryer on low to help them dry faster (this feels a little weird, but it really helps, I just suggest having some chapstick handy.).

When you’re done, wait a few moments before taking out the cloth, and lightly lick over your teeth to make sure they stay on. Remember to clean your eyeliner brush when you’re done!

and voila! (picture is from last December’s San Diegostuck holiday-themed meet. I actually don’t have any pictures handy of what this looks like in full cosplay, grey and all… woops)

With the size/placement of my teeth, I only need to paint the top row, but if your bottom teeth are more visible, go ahead and paint those too!

The eyeliner doesn’t have a taste, is non-toxic, and comes off with a vigorous tooth-brushin’!

Happy cosplaying!!

Good Website that sells cheap items for the UK, also have stores located there- sells pretty much all the props you’d need

http://www.elliottsfancydress.co.uk/

Been to their store in Northern Ireland and they sell all sorts of things that could be used for cosplay.

They sell scars and prosthetic skin also. They also sell elf ears which I assume could be facepainted to look pointed like trolls. A few other things that were particularly noteworthy were wine bottles for Roxy’s and a chainsaw which could be given alterations to look like Kanaya’s, when in store I got perfect Dave glasses and noticed a pipe if you were cosplaying dad egbert- oh and gangster shoes that could be used for the midnight crew. It has pretty much everything Check it out if you live in the UK it’s brill!

Sollux fangs

So I was looking around for a good pair of fangs for Sollux and came across Scarecrow Werewolf Fangs.

They’re on the expensive side, $25 before shipping, but they come with paste which makes them fit very well, and have enough of it that you can even take the paste out and refit them!

Once the have been fit, they’re easy to put on and take off, but stay on very well!.

For Sollux you can put them both on your upper teeth for his fangs.

The biggest issue I take with them is that the fitting process can be a pain.  Because of the way the paste supplies are packed (there are two bottles of the liquid that you mix with the powder) it’s best to fit them all at once, which can take upwards of 2 hours.  As such I recommend putting on a movie while you do so.

Also, because they are removed by placing pressure on the fangs with your lower jaw, there can be issues if, like me, you have an underbite.  Resting them on your lip or just keeping your mouth open a bit can help with that!

If you’ve got the money they are highly recommended though

Cheap, Sturdy, Re-usable Pointy Teeth Tutorial

Before I ever cosplayed from Homestuck, I was doing a different cosplay that required a mouth full of shark teeth. I had MAJOR troubles finding a good way to do this, and spent hours upon hours searching and asking other cosplayers for their methods.

At long last I was lucky enough to find this beautiful, beautiful thing —-> http://faxen.deviantart.com/gallery/30770360#/d4tu47y

It’s basically a glue fake nails on a retainer method, which I had seen before, but the thing that people NEVER realize is that instead of going to the hassle of getting an expensive retainer and whatnot, you can just get this $5 or something bag of pelts from dental distortions and easily make your own retainer. All in all this method costed me about $11. And these teeth are seriously sturdy and stuff, and I always get complements on them.

(Another note: though just straight up pointy teeth are made here, of course you can lengthen two of the teeth to have pointy teeth + the longer fangs for someone like Gamzee or Tavros etc)

While we’re on the subject of dental distortions, as it mentions in the tutorial above, I would advise against the sharky teeth they sell there. Personally, I think they look somewhat unnatural and awkward, and do you REAAALLY want to blow $60 on them?

On the tutorial, I bought 2 packets as it says, but ended up only needing one to make the top row of teeth. This is because it’s harder to talk with two sets in, and people don’t really see your bottom teeth, anyways. Though if you want to look top notch fabulous for photoshoots, or are just a perfectionist, go for it.

With talking with the teeth in, if you have any sort of retainer type thing in your mouth you’re going to have a bit of a lisp, no matter what. I actually had quite a minor one with this, which was another good thing. And that actually wasn’t even a problem because….this also probably sounds SO weird, but if I spoke in a British accent I didn’t have any lisp AT ALL. I swear it’s true, don’t ask me how. >_> obviously not saying that’ll work for everyone, but hey…

Lastly, although this method is cheap, if you really don’t have ANY money and want to be able to talk as well as always then I would suggest this method ——> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8B2nKYuOB8o

ANOTHER thing people often don’t realize is that you can use liquid eyeliner instead of tooth black, as shown there. It honestly looks surprisingly good, while costing like, well…this is as cheap as it gets, folks. :P

Mod Note: I honestly wouldn’t suggest it.  Tooth black is pretty cheap on its own, you don’t need to accidentally put things into your mouth that could harm you.  Even if one kind does work, not all liquid eyeliners are made equal.  If you are going to use that last tutorial, try it waaaay before a convention or meetup in case anything happens.

Cheap Teeth But They Work

If you don’t want to buy the teeth for trolls, you can always do this really sorta cheap method but it works well!

Buy white fake nails and a clipper! Clip the nails and sharpen them with a nail file.

And then use some denture paste and stick them on to your teeth.

According to my friend, it feels weird in the beginning but it works super well.

Take a look!

That would be the friend from earlier but yes this works really well!

Hi! I’m Colton. Every year when Halloween rolls around, I work for a company called SPIRIT Halloween. You may have heard of it; it’s the only good Halloween store.

I’ve been working at SPIRIT going on three years now, and I decided to give back to the Homestuck cosplay community by letting y’all know what you can pick up here! As we get more shipments in, I’ll make new posts, but this is what I found the most useful going around the store:

  • The Royal Sword could be made into a quick and easy Royal Deringer with a heat gun, some modeling clay, and a little patience.
  • I thought these boots would be good for a Mindfang cosplayer. SPIRIT tends to crank out a lot of shitty stuff, but I can say that their shoes are usually pretty durable. Haven’t tried them on myself, but they looked fine.
  • Striped socks for God Tier Jade, obviously. Moving on.
  • What troll cosplay would be complete without fangs? SPIRIT carries Scarecrow brand fangs, which are preeeetty much the best false fangs on the market. Definitely worth your cash.
  • This neck wound should be purchased with gel blood (NOT liquid blood and NOT blood mist) for a Doomed Dave cosplay. It comes with spirit gum, but it couldn’t hurt to pick up a refill pack. Also, buy some liquid latex with it.
  • Meaghan uses this exact AK-47 for her Eclectica Jade cosplay, and I must say that it looks damn good for not too much money.
  • I reluctantly included this katana because it doesn’t actually look as good as it does in the picture, but with some clever painting, it could work for a Dirk or Bro cosplay. It also is made of the same material that Nerf swords are made from, so it’s con-safe and you can smack people with it!

HERE YOU GUYS GO here is a Halloween guide.
