Stuck on Homestuck Cosplay?
Glitter for the Empress/An added Shine!

Hi! I have a really nice glitter makeup site that can be used for various looks for different characters. It can also be used for nail polish if mixed with a clear base.

You can find it here.

Realistic nails!

Here! is a tutorial (made by one of my favorite makeup artists) on how to mattify nails! I think this would be a great little tidbit for people who want troll nails to look a bit more realistic. Very easy too!

Cheap cosplay stuff??

According to the reviews this website has pretty good quality wigs for 3-16 USD

other wigs they have (in like pink and stuff) (8-31$)

and they ship to most countries within a reasonable amount of time

From what i can see there’s a few long ones that i could see being used for a feferi or vriska (like down to butt length) and others that could be cut or already are all the other troll (or kid) lengths

They also have shoes that would work well with cosplay like these or these. plenty of others too i just am not going to search for all the shoes.

Canon Nail Color

I made a swatch of Karkat’s nail color from this scene. It’s also the same color (or at least incredibly close) to the trolls’ sclera color. I just added some neon orange to this gross pasty yellow nail polish that I never use to make my own custom nail color.

Troll/Alpha Kid Nail Polish

Over Christmas I got a great set of nail polishes that includes some colors that might just work for those wishing to paint their nails in the troll’s blood color!

The set is an L.A. COLORS Color Craze Collection, called Punk Rock Princess. It has seven different colors, two really sparkly ones that probably wouldn’t work, a semi-sparkly blue color, a bright pink, an orange, and a color that can work as jade green and a tyrian purple.

I’ve tried googling the polish set but I can’t find it anywhere, so I don’t know the actual polish names. Maybe someone will have better luck?

I figure the orange and pink might work for a Roxy cosplay and (possibly) a genderbent Dirk cosplay. The orange could also probably work for those of you who want your nails to be the color of troll horns.

The semi-sparkly blue is about the right shade for an Equius or Horuss, but due to the shimmery nature of it, I can’t necessarily recommend it as a normal Zahhak polish.

The jade green is a bit of enigma color. I’ve been wearing it for a while now, and the dried color sometimes seems to change based on the light it’s in, but for the most part, it appears to be a jade green.

The tyrian purple can dry pretty dark, but one or two layers can make a color that’s pretty accurate for Feferi or Meenah’s blood color.

One of the sparkly colors is a blue-green color that appears teal when dried, but due to the fact it is sparkly (very sparkly, I think it actually has glitter in it), I can’t say you can use it for a normal Latula or Terezi.

I recommend checking out the L.A. COLORS website, as my experience with their products has been pretty good, and there may be things for your other cosplay needs.

So I’m sure you guys have enough of nail polish submissions but I thought I’d submit a bit of a review.

This is a nail polish that I’ve seen at Walgreens and a few other stores in my area, at least around the holidays. They don’t seem to be just Halloween though, as at least at my Walgreens they are still in stock.

I bought this because at 1.99, it seemed like an okay deal. But I’m going to advise you not to buy these. I suppose the genericness should have warned me; the nail polish itself is more like a jelly than a liquid, takes coats upon coats to even show up, and sticks to everything.

If you’re looking for a nail polish you can buy locally instead of online, I’d suggest Sally Beauty’s Master Muse nail striping polish. It’s supposed to be for stripes over other polish, but I’ve found it works just fine on its own and it is the exact color of troll nails in person. It’s carried in every Sally Beauty store for a cheaper price than online.

Vriska/Aranea nail polish

Here it is, it looks bluer in person, and it’s really close to the Serket blood color!

CVS has nail polish at 99 cents a bottle! The brand is “wet n wild” and the series is “Wild Shine”.
It’s got a nice variety of colors. I bought black and a really pretty shimmery turquoise called “caribbean frost”. I’m using black for Kanaya but the turquoise will probably work really well for any Porrim cosplayers.
It’s cheap for a reason though; you should check to see what condition the brush is in before buying it. I forgot to do this for the turquoise and later i found that the brush end was loose and like half of the hairs had fallen out?? Just be careful about what you’re getting.

Troll nails!

Okay, so I was shopping with my mom one day when I found this little beauty right here. (website used because I’m too much of a wimp to post a pic of my derped up bottle. I spilled some of it and it looks horrible, now. OTL) I found it at our walmart right in Griffin, so you don’t actually have to order it online. It’s cheap (obviously) so you can get more than one bottle (don’t know why you would, but that’s just me.) It took me about two to three coats on each hand for a complete and solid color, but once it dried and I put a top coat on it, it worked perfect. And, if you wanted a more elegant look, you could probably put a coat of gold nail polish over it. It looks really nice. =w=

Thank You!

abigaillarson:

Thanks so much to everyone who helped spread the word about China Glaze’s apparent blunder with the “Wicked” label.

I have received a formal apology from the company, and a call from their head who apologized personally and offered me compensation and a job. That was super nice. They’re now going after the “artist” they hired who ripped me off, and I hope they tear him apart.

They did make it clear that what happened was completely unethical and against their beliefs, and that they are very sorry it happened. I feel like it’s only right to clear their name because they did the right thing by apologizing to me.

So thank you to everyone who wrote them e-mails and who posted about it, and spread the word, and opened their eyes to what was really going on. And thank you China Glaze for reaching out to me.
