Stuck on Homestuck Cosplay?
Okay, here’s an alternate way of getting the scratches on equius’ glasses without permanently marking them. It also works if you want thicker, less realistic scratches.
You will need:
liquid wite-out
a pair of glasses (i got mine from a second hand store for 1$. Try places like Value Village or gas stations)
A toothpick/a pencil/some stick
some scrap paper or plastic or something
It’s a very easy method, and you can see very well through the glasses with minimal impairment.
Pour a bit of wite-out onto the paper or plastic or whatever. About the size of a penny
Make a basic outline of the scratches (I used the canon scratch pattern, but you don’t need to) by using the toothpick as a sort of “brush” and making thin lines
Thicken lines until dark enough/thick enough for your liking
Let dry for a few minutes
Done!
The thing about this method is that you might have to bring some toothpicks and wite-out with you to cons because, if you drop them/scrape them against the wall, it’s very easy for the wite-out to come off. This is also a good thing, though, because you can wash the wite-out off easily and the glasses will be left completely unscathed!
Hope this helps!

US acrylic sheet

Adding on the post about this website, not only is the US shipping ridiclous, but UK shipping is £9.80.  Thats alot for a little sheet of plastic, so I searched around and found this on ebay. The sheet listed here is  bigger than A4 and only comes to £6 including shipping.

Acrylic sheets for glasses

I saw someone submitted a site for acrylic sheets in the US here and I wanted to share another good resource for sheets of acrylic which is this site.  The shipping and prices are like only 50 cents less for where I live, but im really cheap and I know some of you guys out there probably are too so I thought I would share. Oh and heres what my glasses look like, I used the dark grey color.

acrylic sheets for the US!

i was told recently that shipping for the US from this website was somewhere in excess of $30 so i WOULD NOT ADVISE IT FOR PEOPLE IN THE US. i’m sorry and i didn’t know!

however, i did some searching and found this site instead, which is US based and sells 12x12 inch squares of tinted acrylics in an array of colours, for around $5 each. i don’t know the shipping for this website for the US, as it wouldn’t calculate it for me unless i entered a US address, and i don’t have one.

if this website is horrendous for shipping too, let me know and i’ll look again!

clear/tinted acrylic for glasses

so i was searching for acrylic sheets to make a pair of bro glasses, and i came across this site.

it’s based in the uk, and it sells samples of it’s acrylic sheets at various thicknesses, ranging from 2mm and 30mm. the samples are pretty cheap, and are a 15x15cm square, which is pretty much perfect size to make glasses from. they also sell tinted acrylic in a range of colours, perfect for bro/terezi/latula/sollux glasses, it’s £1.80 for the tinted acrylic, and £1.19 for the clear, at the thinnest thickness (3mm and 2mm respectively).

(Terezi) Devil Glasses review

So I bought these devil glasses, for a total of 11 dollars including shipping and handling.

I think that they are great for any budget cosplayer like myself, but they are came in bad quality. The screws were very lose and some parts appeared to be falling off.

The glasses actually DID fall apart while I was trying to sand the lenses down, but I didn’t lose any of the parts and put them back together. I’m going to try and tighten them more before actually wearing them.

Here’s a picture of them now-
