Advice for Porrim Cosplayers
For anyone who thinks, I really don’t think I should cosplay Porrim, all of the Porrim cosplayers have a large/moderately sized chest…
Just take a look at her talksprite. By the looks of it, she’s got a pretty flat chest, so don’t be discouraged by the fanart and cosplayers with larger busts!

Re. Lime Crime Lipsticks - Why you shouldn’t touch them. Ever.
WARNING: Please, dear god, do /not/ buy from Lime Crime. They have a seriously awful reputation thanks to the owner, Doe Deere, doing things like: Lying to customers, making culturally insensitive campaigns, stealing artwork and photography without credit, AND SO MUCH MORE. http://doedeerelies.tumblr.com/history

Mod Note: Wow, we had no idea! We received several submissions about this, so watch out! Thank you for the heads-up!
There are a ton of things here, and it’s all neatly organized!
raven-night:
DRAG TIP: (From Raven) The tools I use to cover my brows and sideburns. Step 1: rubbing alcohol applied with a cotton ball on the surface to remove oils. Step 2: back comb the glue into the brow in a small circular motion. Step 3: use a brow comb to straighten and comb hairs up. Step 3: use the rounded, bottom side of the spoon to smooth the hairs down in the same direction you combed the hair. Let it set. After it dries apply more glue in the same direction you combed and smooth with CLEAN spoon. Repeat that twice. Clean the surrounding area with rubbing alcohol. After the fourth application of glue, press translucent powder on top with a powder puff. Now, apply foundation by stippling with a sponge and powder. I usually do that twice. Once you have finished…you have the freedom of any brow you choose!!! :)
I bring this up when I do my panels, but drag queens have fabulous advice that can be used for cosplay!
This technique can be used for many characters, such as the cherubs or anyone who has a strange eyebrow shape!
Hearing Aids & Wigs/Make-Up Tutorial
It’s more of an idea on how to do things than a tutorial. Y’know most of us have to wear a wig to have the same hair like the trolls right? Well, I’ve experienced with my hearing aid with my Kaito wig. At first, I was baffled and I thought I wasted $30 on a wig because I couldn’t put it on. Well, I found a way to keep the hearing aid on comfortably with a wig. I just tie up my hair and stuff into a wig cap or bundle it up inside a wig cap, and strategically put my magnet in my hair under the wig cap so it can’t fall out. Then you just pull your wig over, be a lil careful with the side your hearing aids are on, or both sides if you’re bilateral. So now you got the wig on. I’ve never done troll make-up xD but I can say, put a little make-up on your ear(s) before everything and seal it. That way you don’t smudge it while getting your wig on. Then you have your wig on, do your make-up however you do it. I know there aren’t a whole lot of deaf cosplayers, and I’ve never met one (if you know one, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE TELL ME.), but I’ve cosplayed myself and nobody really knows I’m deaf until I tell them.
*If you’re worried about your hearing aid showing, through specific wigs like Tavros bald caps (personally, if you’re a deaf Tavros cosplayed like me, don’t do bald, it’ll hide it better), or Sollux’s short hair, whatnot, just suck it up and ignore it. When doing photo shoots however, you can pose differently to hide your hearing aid if you have one. If you’re bilateral, I’m afraid I can’t tell you how to disguise them in specific poses. Any questions, drop a question in my ask box.

Arda wigs that could be used for hs cosplay
Okay so I’ve been struggling with finding wigs for quite some time but I found this website and it includes plenty of wigs that could be used for homestuck cosplay. They’re a bit pricy but quality is very nice and they’re heat resistant and all.

Info on Sign Language
cynicalcanasian:

so ive noticed that a lot of fanart, cosplayers etc revolving around kurloz and meulin have sign language! which makes me happy, but i have noticed that most of these works use signs word for word.
sign language is quite abbreviated. very, very rarely will someone use the sign for each word. there isnt even a well known sign for most simple words like ‘the’ and ‘am’. i couldn’t recall the signs for them so i had to check to make sure if i wasnt misremembering, and i couldnt find them! :I my messaged my cousin, whos mother is deaf, (which is how i have knowledge of sign language) and she confirmed that there really isnt a sign for ‘the’.
in the gifs above i am signing the phrase, ‘i am going to the store to buy milk’.
on the top, the signs are as followed: i - a m - go - to - store - to - buy - milk
on the bottom, the signs are as followed: i - store - buy - milk
as i said before, sign language is VERY abbreviated. its just a waste of time to sign all those in between words! most people wouldnt even sign ‘i - store - buy - milk’, theyd probably just sign ‘i - store - milk’. notice how the right gif can loop 3 times in the time it takes for the left gif to loop once.
of course, there really is no ‘wrong’ way to sign language. doesnt matter! if you want to have a 4 panel picture of kurloz saying ‘i am so sorry’ then go for it! this is just some info for interested parties 8]
feel free to ask me questions! i havent spent much time with the deaf part of my family so my sign language is very rusty, but i will try my best! 8]
Sorry I changed the title to make it easier to find, but this is REALLY GOOD INFORMATION and could help out some Kurloz and Meulin cosplayers!
Removing Make Up and Wig Washing
A very easy way to get make up off is by using Johnson’s Baby Shampoo.
Since it’s made for infants, it is very gentle and you can use it around your eyes without much irritation.
Plus the baby shampoo can be used to clean your wig(s). After a couple uses, my wig got a lot of face paint on it and started feeling icky. So giving your wig a wash (after finding a proper tutorial, of course) is a very good idea.

Pro Tip: Clear nail polish
Not only good for troll nails!
Nail polish is also a varnish, so it can help you out for a lot of things, such as..
- loose seams during a convention
- cracks in cosplay props
- making sure knots don’t unravel
- quick fixes on jewelry (say, if something falls off an earring post)
And a lot more! Also the obvious things, like rips in tights and etc. I would think it would be a good idea to carry a bottle around with you on conventions, just in case something were to happen. C:

Warning about Milanoo.
Milanoo is a really bad site to order from! Trust me!!! There’s an 80% chance you’ll get something WAAAAY different than what you ordered or it would arrive very damaged. Just a heads up.

Mod Note: Just a reminder that Milanoo is terrible and don’t use it! We have a post here with all of the known aliases Milanoo uses (and the 100% not-Hussie-approved Feferi cosplay that started a string of anti-Milanoo posts). If you’re buying anything online, even if you got there from ebay/Google shopping/this blog, triple-check to make sure you are not buying a Milanoo product. Read up on cosplay.com’s forums and go through reviews, and remember that Milanoo is notorious for making bunches of accounts to upvote and falsely review products from their site. They use really nice stock photos and then send the buyer things that are nothing like the pictures! They are sleazy, enough said, and we beg of you to not support them and get cheated.
