Scarves— commission a knitter!

If you want a realistic, amazing-quality scarf and do not mind paying some money for it, this is what I recommend:

IMG_1613[1]

Go to etsy (or another site where independent craftspeople sell their work). Search “knitting commissions.” Browse through a few shops to determine which knitter (or crochet-er, if you want to go that route) you deem the most skilled or whose handiwork appeals to you. Ask that person politely if they would be willing to create a scarf for you. If so, you can begin to outline things like the dimensions, colors, and such of the scarf. A drawn reference helps.

I would say that people who want to cosplay Roxy and Eridan would benefit most from this tactic, considering that those two characters have scarves that are nearly impossible to find at a normal retailer if you want canon accuracy.

The upsides: you get an AMAZING scarf (if you commission a highly-skilled craftsperson). A good scarf is a finishing touch on a cosplay; you can pass with an okay-quality one, but a REALLY good accessory can really make your costume look so much better.

The downsides: This is not something you want to do on a budget. You have to have a good amount of disposable income. I paid a bit less than $50 for my scarf (although it’s worth every penny). In addition, you must be patient enough to respectfully wait for the craftsperson to actually create the project— knitting takes time, you know.

Formal eridan shoes

Hey, so I was scrolling through Amazon when I found a pair of my headcanon Eridan shoes!
Now, these are just my headcanon, but they’d still work nicely.
Doc Martens may be pricey, but damn, they’re great!

Eridan Shoes (or anyone else with canvas shoes), on a budget!

So I’ve been looking around for god knows how long trying to figure out a good way to do Eridan shoes without them looking horribly obviously painted, sharpied, or with runoff between the two colors like happens with dye in canvas shoes. And I’m fairly certain that (with the help of my costume shop supervisor) I’ve come up with a solution…and it’s cheap, too!

This method can be used for coloring ANY canvas/fabric shoes, including but not limited to Eridan’s, Sollux’s, Vriska’s, etc., and is EXTREMELY useful for people with two- or more-colored shoes, though it can be used for anyone with canvas shoes.

However, since Eridan shoes are what I made, Eridan shoes are what I’m doing the tutorial on. Other shoes are essentially the same idea, just different colors/patterns. Please do read the whole guide before starting so you know what’s coming up.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

image

-Acrylic paint in the colors you’ll need to mix the colors of his shoes (~50 cents-1 dollar per bottle) - I needed red, purple, black, white, blue, and green, but if you’re not picky like me you can find colors pretty close to the shades just at walmart. You’ll want waterbased, not oil based - which basically just means get the cheap stuff at walmart. You probably won’t need a lot.

-Brushes! If you look for these specifically they might be a little expensive - what I suggest is to either go to the dollar store to look for them or to get a cheap kids’ watercolor or painting set that comes with brushes. You’ll want soft brushes, preferably with a flattened tip rather than a rounded one to get the edges better. Don’t use your high-quality brushes for this - they’ll be forever stained. Seriously.

-Water. Not too hard to find, just use your tap.

-Dishes to mix paint in. You’ll need two, maybe three of them. You want them relatively shallow, but they need sides to hold water in. You’ll also find mixing is easier if they don’t have ridges at the bottom.

-Modpodge! Outdoor modpodge is going to be a necessity, and you may want matte or glossy as well to help fight the stickiness that comes with the outdoor stuff (otherwise your shoes could stick together and pull some of the paint off the rubber parts!).

-Toothpicks (optional) - I used toothpicks to mix, because they were cheap and the paint didn’t get caught in them like it did in the brushes. You could use pretty much anything you want, though.

-Newspaper, for protecting your work surface.

-Canvas shoes (~6 dollars) from walmart. If you go to the shoe section and look for them, they’re pretty easy to find - they’re your basic white canvas shoes, coming in a range of sizes at a low price. Walmart has carried them for years, so I don’t think they’re going anywhere soon. Keep the hanger thing they come on, it’s really useful for painting the bottoms.

Eridan Ampora Wig Tutorial

I was making my Boyfriends Eridan wig. People seemed to like the wig so much so I made a video and i figured i’d share it.

Tutorial Video

Base Black wig Used

Extra Purple Hair

I Will Say using the punky wig i used it does take alot of effort to make it work. and the Punky wig isn’t heat resistant so you have to be careful with that. But i really like how full the wig was so that is why i choose this.

Help for Tights

So i was searching through the internet and i found a couple different tights related things for cosplays? I know my friend sam was having trouble finding Jades god tier tights and i found these babies for a pretty cheap price! I also found these in case anyone wanted to use leggings for Eridan? It comes in blue too! This could also work for Female!Eridan I guess?

For the trickster tights, I saw a post on tumblr of a girl who made their tights? They got pink opaque tights and bought turquoise fabric paint, using masking tape as a border for where to and where not to paint!
