Wig Review
This review is in regards to the wig suggested in this post.
The wig is NOT as fluffy as shown in the post and ad. I actually ended up using it for Dave; here are a few pictures. (Sorry for varying quality and my face, just trying to show the wig as best as I can.)

The wig isn’t as poofy as you’d want for Dirk, but possibly with a bit of work you could get it to look right. This is just it out of the bag and put on. One other big thing is that the wig is very small. It kept slipping up to show my hairline, despite pinning and a few other methods. It gave me a small headache for both days I wore it, so bear in mind. All together this wig is pretty good for an eBay wig though. As I said, not the best for Dirk but with styling it can work.

Mod Note: I’m not sure if you meant that the wig is hard to make poofy, but no wig will be poofy like in the website’s pictures straight out of the box. It looks like it has enough volume to be styled into a good Dirk wig.
Some more wigs for you lot~
regarding Daves Timetables
Royal Deringer Tutorial
So I just finished mine and my friend’s cosplay weapons and I decided I’d share the processes! They came out very well.

Here’s my tutorial on how to make Dave’s shiny broken sword!
It may not be the best tutorial since I’m still learning how to make props, but the end result is fantastic for anyone who wants to put in the effort. Probably lots of room for improvement from skilled propmakers too!

Great Wig - Lots of color options
A while back I cosplayed Rose. I had never bought a wig before, and after hearing about people’s horror stories, I was terrified of having something go wrong. After searching around I found something that ended up being better than I had expected.
Here is the link to the wig.
It has a wide variety of colors and the length is good for styling and cutting to your character’s needs. I got mine in light blonde and it was perfect. You could probably use it for any of the Derse kids just with a bit of styling depending on who it is. (Maybe with the exception of Roxy because it is a little on the shorter side.) It is true to the picture and can handle heat. They vary in price, but they’re all under $20 and they’re pretty quality. I had no problems with it at all.

Ties for Dave’s suits/Dad/anyone with a tie
It’s surprisingly hard to find a solid-colored tie (in my case it was a white regular tie) in a department store, and when you do, they’re usually pricey.
However I found this site, and I bought two ties off of them, and they were of good quality, so you could wear them for non-cosplay things too!
Regular ties start at $5, bowties at $10 (shipping’s a flat 5 bucks for an entire order); but they sometimes do sales or offer free shipping so if you don’t need a tie right away, you could wait and see if they do a sale. (another note that’s pretty much a non-issue: their white regular ties are more like a very light silver with a sheen to it. A flat white would probably look tacky.)
Also, one of the better tie-tying tutorials out there if you’re going to go with a “regular” tie.

How to make detachable Dirk/Bro shades using PVC plastic.
frost-in-my-kokoro:
This is for those of you who have prescription glasses (I know the feeling of being blind /paps) and can’t afford/find or don’t know how to use Plexiglass (the latter applied to me). I found that PVC plastic is just as good, as it is lightweight, translucent, and easy to cut out (or at least easier to cut than Plexiglass). Also, I found it at my local craft shop.
This may be helpful for other kinds of shades as well, such as Terezi’s or Latula’s.
More under the cut! (Warning: Picture-heavy)
