clear/tinted acrylic for glasses
so i was searching for acrylic sheets to make a pair of bro glasses, and i came across this site.
it’s based in the uk, and it sells samples of it’s acrylic sheets at various thicknesses, ranging from 2mm and 30mm. the samples are pretty cheap, and are a 15x15cm square, which is pretty much perfect size to make glasses from. they also sell tinted acrylic in a range of colours, perfect for bro/terezi/latula/sollux glasses, it’s £1.80 for the tinted acrylic, and £1.19 for the clear, at the thinnest thickness (3mm and 2mm respectively).

Canvas belts!
Right here is a listing that has quite a few colour options for belts with silver buckles, if your cosplay were to need one.
In specific, I think the gray option is perfect for Bro! I’ve just now ordered it for that purpose so I haven’t been able to try it, but the seller has 99.3% positive feedback and these are super cheap!

Homestuck Glasses Galore!
There is a person on etsy who sells near-perfect glasses.
Latula’s glasses. No rims, big, square lenses. The bottom half is off a bit but its nothing too noticeable!
Terezi or Redglare’s Glasses.
12” Bro or Dirk’s Glasses. Possibly smaller version. Brobot glasses. Another normal Dirk or Bro glasses. Now you have many options.
Aranea’s glasses.
Sollux’s glasses. You’ll need to get a eyeglass screwdriver to switch out the lenses since they are on the wrong side. However, you might be able to have the seller do that for you if you ask nicely. *wink wonk*
Hopefully this helps anyone searching for lenses. UuU

Mod note: While we’ve made many, many, many posts about this particular etsy/ebay store (yes, the same Akujinscos runs both), he now seems to have added Latula and Aranea glasses to his ensemble. In fact, I would say these are the best Latula glasses I’ve seen to date, and I recommend getting your rad shades from here. They are the only pair that’s large enough and flat enough for Latula. We did have one review state that the screws and bindings can be a little loose, but this doesn’t seem to be a widespread or impossible-to-fix problem.
Trickster Bro/Dirk gloves!
Dirk/Bro Strider Katana
For those who wish to cosplay as Dirk/Bro Strider, my friend and I were able to find katanas at a Dollar General. Cost effective and light weight!

To add to the Dirk master post, since that’s actually the cosplay I’m working on at the moment, regarding GLASSES! Those pesky buggers tch!
I took a quick search on eBay to find these and these they are a bit expensive (at least with my budget), nonetheless it seems this seller has used acrylic for these like has been suggested for Bro/Dirk/Sis/Terezi glasses before.
A good place to look for acrylic are places like Home Hardware, Canadian Tire, and other building/hardware stores. The method of using a plastic binder is probably going to give you the same result (and probably easier to find Staples and Wal-Mart are golden). For attaching arms I’d suggest super glue, hot glue or screws depending on the look you want.

Dirk’s Sunglasses
http://www.sakacon.com/2011/05/diy-kamina-glasses.html
This is a good outline for making glasses for Dirk! This same method can be used to Terezi’s glasses as well, just cut them in her shape.
I also saw some using a translucent plastic clipboard for the plastic! Same method though. You can always get a clear one and get some thin colored plastic sheets in the color you need and glue it on top of the glasses (VERY CAREFULLY, ONLY ON THE SIDES). I believe there is a tutorial for that part somewhere on here.

Dirk Strider; Glasses Mach Two
tradanui:
The first pair of glasses I made for my Dirk Strider cosplay looked fantastic. Unfortunately, they only survived about four days before snapping perfectly in half.
I know I’m not any kind of expert on making cosplay props or anything, but I figured I’d put this out there, as an option for other people.
