Stuck on Homestuck Cosplay?
Meulin/Disciple wig!

Hi, I made a post about a possible Meulin wig awhile back and have been getting asks about it, so, here’s the news! I didn’t buy from eBay, but the same wig from Amazon instead, and it’s perfect!

Handmaid horns and huge Model Magic cracks

I made my Handmaid horns with a base of tin foil and covered it in Model Magic. When it dried, there were large cracks and ragged places that I couldn’t fix with wood filler like I usually would.

So I first sanded the entire surface and wrapped the cracks in Transpore medical tape for strength and stability. Then I covered ragged and rough edges and cracks with Rigid Wrap plaster tape, which looks like this:

These two tapes are really good if you are making anything with weak joints (like my handmaid horns) or if anything needs a smoother surface. The plaster tape can be cut into any shape, made smoother with varying amounts of water, and can be sanded and painted. It dries pretty fast too.

A different option for The Condesce.

So, I noticed that you only have  the zentai suit idea for The Condesce’s costume. I just recieved this, which I ordered a few days ago: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000NM2788/ref=pe_175190_21431760_M3T1_ST1_dp_1 and it’s pretty accurate, for what I want at least. Also, just a few tips if youre going to get this and wear it:
1. It is very skin tight and will show off any curves you have, even ones you dont like.
2. Another thing about the skin-tightness of it, it might show the lines of your underwear, so that could be a problem.

My fabric for the sheer drapey part that comes down from Dolorosa’s mantle came in and it’s PERFECT. I am so happy with this! I can’t quite capture the colors well with my phone camera, but the stripes are a very lovely green. If any other Dolorosa cosplayers want this fabric, I found it here.

Applique for Ancestor Costumes

yaexrae:

The most common question I get when I wear my ancestor costumes at cons is how I sewed on the colored details, so I figured I’d write a little about it.  Below the cut I’ve covered my process from supplies, pattern drafting, cutting and ironing, and the stuff that requires actual sewing.  I hope this helps someone!

I took more progress shots of my Mindfang costume, but not enough to make this tutorial, so I’ll be filling in stuff with some Dolorosa pictures too.  Just in case you’re wondering why the fabric colors switch a lot.

“BUT THEN THEY DIDN’T SEAL THEIR SHIT”

That’s up to you to decide; would you rather cosplay them as trolls, or as the canon silhouettes?  Both have been done before at Otakon 2011 if you’d like to look at pictures of both methods. Because both are done quite frequently both are acceptable and equally common at conventions, so the choice is up to you.
