Stuck on Homestuck Cosplay?
twistedcaliber:

seriously, all homestucks. Buy these paints for your horns. And use the edges of a ripped paper towel to dab on color gradient texture.
Okay, so the three paints I got all came from jo-anne’s. Butternut squash, by Delta Creative Soy Paint, Scarlet Pearl by Tulip Soft fabric paint, and matte sunshine yellow by tulip soft. Note, you do NOT WANT THE 3-D PAINT. Matte is good. Tulip Soft is a wonderful brand and also they show up GREAT on shirts if you want to paint your own troll shirt. Scarlet Pearl actually has itty bitty sparkles in it but it was the only red they had in stock when I went that wasn’t a bright, neon red.
For the base color, get mostly butternut and mix in a squirt of the red. Midtone orange is pretty might straight up butternut with a few drops of yellow, and the yellow at the top is just straight up yellow. For the in-between colors mix them until you get a nice color, then rip a paper towel and fold it over so that you have a wad of ripped towel on one end, then dip that into a thin layer of paint and dab it on. It makes a really nice spackle kind of effect and helps blend the edge between your colors really nicely.
Also this paint dries pretty quickly. I put on two layers of each color within five minutes on all four horns.
